CERTIFICATION AREAS AND TRANSCRIPT REQUIREMENTS

Certification Areas and Transcript Requirements

 

Available Certification Areas
Program requirements are subject to change based on the Texas State Board for Educator Certification policies.

General pre-requisites are required of all applicants. All requirements listed below must be met by paperwork submission deadline or your application will be made inactive.

Elementary Level Certificates (Early Childhood-Grade 6)

  • Core Subjects EC-6 (24 total hours: at least three hours in math, science, social studies, at least six hours in English)

 

Middle Level Certificates (Grades 4-8)

  • Core Subjects 4-8 (36 total hours: at least six hours in English, math, science, social studies)
  • English Language Arts and Reading 4-8 (12 hours of English)
  • English Language Arts and Reading /Social Studies 4-8 (12 hours of English and 12 hours of social studies)
  • Math 4-8 (15 hours of Math)
  • Math/Science 4-8 (15 hours of math and 15 hours of science)
  • Science 4-8 (15 hours of science)
  • Social Studies 4-8 (12 hours of social studies)

 

Secondary Level Certificates (Grades 7-12)

  • Chemistry 7-12 (15 hours of chemistry)
  • English Language Arts and Reading 7-12 (15 hours of English)
  • History 7-12 (15 hours of history)
  • Life Science 7-12 (15 hours of a combination of biology, anatomy and physiology, botany, zoology, etc.)
  • Math 7-12 (15 hours of Math)
  • Physical Science 6-12 (Must have at least eight hours in each area: physics and chemistry
  • Physics/Math 7-12 (must pass PACT-735 and 739 before joining program)
  • Science 7-12 (must pass PACT-736 before joining program)
  • Social Studies 7-12 (must pass PACT-732 before joining program)

 

NOTE:

*Special Education EC-12 is added to ALL Certificates

*Science of Teaching Reading is required for Core Subjects (EC-6 and 4-8), ELAR 4-8, and ELAR/Social Studies 4-8
