The purpose of the Migrant Education Program (MEP) is to design and support programs that help migrant students overcome the challenges of mobility, cultural and language barriers, social isolation, and other difficulties associated with a migratory lifestyle. These efforts are aimed at helping migrant students succeed in school and successfully transition to postsecondary education or employment.
The Region 5 MEP provides various levels of support to local education agencies (LEA) based on their category of participation. LEAs may participate in one of three categories: Shared Service Agreement (SSA), Project or Non-Project.
The Region 5 MEP is actively recruiting in Region 5 communities and ready to assist migrant students succeed.

Per HB 462, resources and services provided by Region 5 ESC are aligned with, and designed to support, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills(TEKS) adopted by the State Board of Education.
